Your Responsibilities:
This is a training position. Once you complete your training, you will move into a Grocery Department Manager position.
Grocery Department Managers-in-Training play an important role in the day-to-day operations within the Department, which provides valuable service to the community and its people.
Provide excellent customer service by delivering on the Value Offer
Deal quickly and effectively with customer complaints, requests, and inquiries
Schedule department staff to maximize customer service and fulfill business needs
Work with the Grocery Department Manager to manage the Grocery Department and maximize sales and profits
Develop departmental business plans in order to meet or exceed sales and gross profit goals
Complete regular competitor price checks to protect the competitive position and monitor sales trends
Work with the Grocery Department Manager to ensure the daily operating disciplines, as described in the Best Practices Manual (Retail Basics), are consistently met
Ensure product quality through correct ordering, receiving, inspection, handling, labeling, pricing, and stock rotation
Assist the Grocery Manager to recruit, support, train, and develop staff
Skills and Qualifications:
We’re looking for professional, organized workers who have a healthy sense of adventure and a strong knowledge and experience base.
Strong customer service skills
Record of the bottom line and sales results in previous roles
Knowledge of the food supply industry and experience with managing supply chains
3+ years of management experience in retail
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, both verbally and written
Computer knowledge of Excel and Outlook
Strong knowledge of operating principles
Ability to work with confidential information
Highly motivated with a passion for bringing our communities products and services to live better
Strong analytical and leadership skills
Keen attention to detail and customer driven
